Dr. David L. Andrews (he/him)
David L. Andrews is Professor of Physical Cultural Studies in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research utilizes a combination of a conjunctural cultural studies and assemblage theory, in contextualizing the material, expressive, and affective dimensions of contemporary sport and physical culture. More specifically his work contextualizes sport and physical culture in relation to the intersecting cultural, political, economic, and technological forces shaping contemporary U.S. society. Dr. Andrews is currently working on a research monograph titled Articulating Trump’s America: Sport, Politics, and the Culture Wars (Rutgers University Press). In addition to acting as an associate editor for the Journal of Social Issues, Dr. Andrews has served on the editorial boards of the International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Sociology of Sport Journal, Communication and Sport, Celebrity Studies, Quest, and Leisure Studies.
